Balzac is a Japanese rock band formed in 1992 in Osaka. The band was founded by singer and songwriter Hirosuke Nishiyama, who has remained the only constant member of the band since its creation. Since the beginning, Balzac was highly influenced by the sound and image of the famous horror punk band The Misfits and, especially during the very early years, Glenn Danzig's Samhain, adopting and combining the musical and visual style of both bands to create their own. To this day, they are considered by many to be the Japanese counterpart to The Misfits. The band often stays away from the "campy" horror lyrics and image found in most horror punk bands, as the lyrics by Hirosuke tend to be more like dark poetry and, though not always serious, deal with themes of darkness, loneliness and fear.

Monsters of Rock was an annual hard rock music festival in England held every August at the Castle Donington racetrack from 1980–1996 (with the odd exception, and a one-off comeback in 2006). Monsters of Rock festivals have also been organized in other cities around the world. After the success of Monsters of Rock 2006 there were suggestions for a Monsters of Rock 2007 but the show was cancelled. In 1988, it has the largest crowd, after Russia's 1991 where Metallica and AC/DC (with others like Pantera) played in front 1.6 million people, approx 107,000. Juice is a 1992 crime drama film that stars rapper Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps. Additional cast members include Jermaine "Huggy" Hopkins, Khalil Kain, Samuel L. Jackson, and features cameo appearances by Queen Latifah, EPMD, Special Ed, Ed Lover, Doctor Dre, Flex Alexander, Fab Five Freddy, and Treach. The film was directed by cinematographer Ernest R. The film touches on the lives of four urban youths growing up in Harlem. It follows the day to day activities in the young men's lives starting out as innocent mischief but growing more serious as time passes by. The film was shot on location in New York City mainly in the Harlem area. It was Rated R by the MPAA for "strong language, and for some violence".

Showbread is an American post punk band originating in Guyton, Georgia. They formed in 1997. The band has gone through numerous lineup changes since its formation but maintains its two founding members, Josh Dies and Patrick Porter. Dies being the primary songwriter and creative director behind Showbread, they have yet to change stylistically because of a difference in lineup. The band had two full time vocalists until Ivory Mobley's departure in 2007. Josh Dies is also the author of "The Spinal Cord Perception" and "The Insect". Showbread gained media attention when, in 2006, a fan made video for the song “Dead By Dawn” was featured on YouTube. The video was seen by the band and posted on their own site, giving rise to controversy over Showbread's lyrical themes. According to former guitarist Matt Davis, the band's name comes from "a biblical reference that Jesus used to show how Christianity isn't so much about rules but about love."
