Monsters of Rock was an annual hard rock music festival in England held every August at the Castle Donington racetrack from 1980–1996 (with the odd exception, and a one-off comeback in 2006). Monsters of Rock festivals have also been organized in other cities around the world. After the success of Monsters of Rock 2006 there were suggestions for a Monsters of Rock 2007 but the show was cancelled. In 1988, it has the largest crowd, after Russia's 1991 where Metallica and AC/DC (with others like Pantera) played in front 1.6 million people, approx 107,000. This was the year 2 people were crushed to death during the Guns N' Roses set (more specifically, during the song It's So Easy).

The Stoics are a three piece folk, rock, pop original band from Launceston, Tasmania. Diverse influences have helped to create their unique sound. The lead singer and songwriter, Ciaran van den Berg, found his sound at a young age and spent many years working in the pub scene of Tasmania until he came across Maria Moles and Jo Breen. Both Maria and Jo are established classical pianists and their remarkable talent and dedication to music translates into unique contemporary music.
